Parkinson's Law

"Work expands according to the time available for its completion"

I wonder if there are people who dont feel that the above rule did apply to their lives atleast for once or is it me only who had been experiencing it since childhood.During school days when we use to get homeworks for say friday on monday itself,I dont remember finishing it before thursday midnite. But if the same thing had to be submitted on wednesday ,I know it would be done by tuesday midnite....Phew!! Thats human nature.

Welcome to the world of engineering and you dont see yourself finishing things untill the very last minute. We had never ending syllabi for some weird subjects like VLSI we had to study in computer science engineering.(I could never figure out why they tortured our poor souls with electrical science subjects like VLSI & DSP.Why wudnt they give the same treatment to EE students by making them study things like compiler design & data structures...I wud rather end it here only, cuz I know I can go on n on on this...)
Coming back, whenever we had VLSI exam, there use to be this dreadful look on everybody's face that morning.Running through notes and books till the very last minute.Even though we got two holidayz in the end term,it was never enough.

We use to joke around
"In engineering, you could have one holiday for an exam, would not be able to finish your course ,pass at the margin and blame the university atleast for not giving enough preparation time.

Or

You could have five holidays, still never be able to be finish your course, pass at the margin and end up with no excuse.

So its better to have none/one day off for each exam ,get over with them ASAP and Party with all the excuses in your bag" (U gotta agree with this one,its logical :))

Coming here in US, we have these online submissions before 12 midnite.I remember hearing from a professor - "The maximum submissions are between 11:50 to 12:00,would like to do a research on any auspicious reasons behind that" :)
At work, there are all kinds of project deadlines. How relieving it is when we come to know from our PM that we have got an extension. But still it leads to putting some extra effort and slogging in the end, though I am pretty sure @ work most of us try to be on our toes and avoid that situation.

You have to figure out if you are running short of time or time is running short of you.
My state of mind still remains the same though:
There are never enough hours in a day, but always too many days before Saturday.
