You and Your Boss

When you take a long time, you’re slow
When your boss takes a long time, he‘s thorough

When you don’t do it, you’re lazy
When your boss doesn’t do it, he’s too busy

When you make a mistake, you’re an idiot
When your boss makes one, he’s only human

When doing something without being told, you’re overstepping your authority
When your boss does the same thing, that’s initiative

When you take a stand, you’re being bull-headed
When your boss does it, he’s being firm

When you overlooked a rule of etiquette, you’re being rude
When your boss skips a few rules, he’s being original

When you please your boss, you’re apple polishing
When your boss pleases his boss, he’s just being co-operative

When you are out of the office, you’re wandering around
When your boss is out of the office, he’s on business

When you are on a day off sick, you’re always sick
When your boss is a day off sick, he must be very ill

When you apply for leave, you must be going for an interview
When your boss applies for leave, it’s because he’s overworked

Laptops on fire !!

Nightmare for Dell n Sony

Dell recalls 4.1 million notebook batteries manufactured by Sony for certain Inspiron,Latitude and XPS units shipped between April 04 and July 06.They have received reports of overheating units that caused property damage by catching fire. The step is taken to ensure safety of its customers. This is supposed to be the largest battery recall in the history of the electronics industry.

So if your purchase is between this timeframe, better watch out.Myself being one of them. You dont want to see your one bursting into flames.Though it has been suggested to actually avoid using a laptop on your lap. Ouch!!How covenient is that!

Thieves of peace

Complaints, guilts and comparisons are the main destroyers of peace.
Instead of complaining, share newness.
Instead of looking for someone to blame, take responsibility for improving the situation.
Instead of comparing yourself to others, value the good that is in them.

We do not lose peace because of circumstances but because of the struggle we create in
our mind between what we think should be and what really is.
To be accepting is not about being passive. It is to be aware of reality and to start
working from there.

Exactly an year ago....

August 10th,2005 I landed here in US of A.Its been an year.Flashback........

July 7th,2005.It was raining in Delhi that day.I was standing in the line in front of the US Embassy unfortunately for the second time.Keeping my fingers crossed and praying to God nothing goes wrong this time plz.I came out of the embassy with all smiles. While passing through the embassys in Delhi in Chankaypuri,we could see the British Embassy and there was a huge crowd and security in front of it.I thought probably a lot more people are planning to go to London. But not me.I am on my way to Uncle Sam's.Came home, switched on the TV and this is what I hear:

"London's public transport system struck with series of coordinated bomb blasts during the morning rush hour"

Fifty-two people were murdered in the attacks and 700 injured. The incident was the deadliest single act of terrorism in the United Kingdom since 1988 and the deadliest bombing in London since the Second World War.

Reminds me of the recent July 11,2006 Mumbai train bombings in India where a series of seven bomb blasts took place over a period of 11 minutes. 207 people lost their lives and over 700 were injured in the attacks.

Its a sad thing to say,but year after year the same story repeats in some part of the world.I wonder when will the day come when we can breathe our lives without being threatened by such acts of terrorism.

Public Speaking

How effectively can you communicate your ideas to other people.Public speaking is definately an art.Somehow you have to connect to the audience. It is something which I always thought I can never do effectively.Thats why I was quite apprehensive for my intern presentation at WIPP .When you have a large no of people staring right into you,it does make u anxious. Specially when your manager expects you to just go there and baffle everyone. But contrary to my expectations I did better than I thought.I realised its more of a mind game than anything else. You just gotta go in there believing in yourself. If you are convinced of what you are talking about ,I bet the audience will relate to you in everyway. Well all the interns gave their best shot and every manager was proud. So proud that we might have to do it once more in front a different set of people.......eeeek.!!!! Does that make me nervous...arrr...Nah ..not anymore I guess!!
